Answer» Hello friends,
I have a small doubt regarding ping command ....
is this be possiable to know which server edition we are using( OS in server mechine) by ping command.... if it possiable please tell me how it be .....
when i saw the ping options and tryed by using -j & -k it shown the it was a "bad option".... please tell me how can i know which os version using by using ping command....from the help (ping /?), A. I find,in my opinion, the -j and -k can not be used in one command line. B. the "host-list" parameter -j or -k is a string of ipaddress (DECIMAL with dot) or HOSTNAME .They use space to part with each other like this:
> ping -j 10.10.10.1 10.20.20.1 10.30.30.1
C. the host-list mean a chain of routers, and the LAST is the destination Host(hostname or ipaddress)
D. the Ping command can not get the host system type.
you can try "TELNET" or "ftp" you can get some infos from the welcome message !!!
