Answer» ok heres the run down
i just switched my old HP computer to a new one so i had to put all my files onto a personal media drive
well in my old computer i had a folder with some "private" pictures that i didnt want anyone to find so i put LIKE access denied to everyone but me on that computer
then i switched everything into my personal drive including that folder
and now that im here on my new computer i kant open the folder or anything.. and ive tried changing ownership and playing around with the permissions in the security tab and it still wont work
can anyone please help??
Let's hope you still have a user account on the old computer. If not you are screwed. You need to copy the folder back and take off the access denial. Then copy it over and redo your security.
The reason is that when you create a user on a new computer, even though the user name is the same as before, the security encryption uses a COMPLETELY different random KEY and therefore the access denial from before is not possible to remove.
By the way, you do know you'll go blind eventually from looking at "private" pictures?
You can try this solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810881 If it works.Broni, I think you are right! I was thinking he had ENCRYPTED the folder, I don't know why.
I hope, it works, but on the other hand I may be blamed for his blindness....LOL
