Answer» Last winter my power SOURCE got fried in a wind storm so I decided to buy a new COMPUTER and just install my old hdd into the new one so I can have two. Problem is that files on my old hdd are password protected and I have no idea how to disable it. I have windows xp on both hdds. Is there a way I can quit one, start the other and disable it?? any help would be appreciated, my wife is freakin out over our wedding pix saved on there. thanksFrom what I have GATHERED: You want to GET your old files But you are unable to because of the Windows XP protection You need to use the old HDD to go in, log into the account, and put all the files you want onto the C:\ drive in their own folder. (Copy the documents folder to the C:\ drive) Then they will no longer be user protected when you try to use the new drive. Is this what you meant? guess I should have said that the first time. thats exactly what I need to do. then I can clear the drive and use it just for storage.Try This
