Solve : accidentally terminated a process...fixable? (windows xp)?

Answer»

my cousin and i were trying to figure out why my xp didn't have any free space on drive f. we realized c and d were pretty much empty, and were trying to sort through f. he opened task manager and i accidentally terminated the process that runs my linksys wireless adapter....so now my internet doesn't work. i have tried to do network connections and it just says that windows cannot CONFIGURE the connection. i would really really appreciate it if someone COULD just tell me what i need to do to fix it, if i can.Restart the computer?it restarted itself after i terminated it, and then the internet didn't work.So the computer has been restarted? As in, Turn off and on again?

Does the wireless, wired, or both not work anymore?

What OS?yes it has.

i don't know about wired. it's not a laptop, and it's a ways away from the adapter in my house. so i've been using the wireless adapter for a long time. as far as i know, just the wireless isn't working.

xp?RESTORE the computer with earlier settings & Restart.Yeah, you can try a System Restore to a day before the problem started.

Do you know exactly what you STOPPED?

How is the wireless not working? Any errors?

Do you use the Windows Wireless Connection tool or another software for your wireless?Instead of just turning your computer on and off.  Turn it off and when you are turning it on hold the button and COUNT to 5.  Try that first.

If that doesn't work go to control panel and outinstall programs and select add hardware.  You are lucky to know what you are missing. Install the disk and locate that entry. That should fix it. Quote from: JezztT on March 29, 2009, 06:25:28 AM

Hold what button down? When?

Holding the Power Button down for 5+ seconds will forcefully turn the computer off - cuts the power.
