Solve : Add Icon to desk top?

Answer»

HELP !

HOW DO YOU ADD A DESKTOP ICON WHEN USING VISTA ?
Sorry caps.

A co worker has a laptop using vista which I never used. Thinking it was as easy as a right click and add to desktop. lol
It sure as *CENSORED* ain't that easy.

Thanks in advance,
MP.So post in caps then apologise ? ?

Not sure i get that one...

You have to right clik a FILE/item to assign a desktop shortcut...
Have you tried that ? ?Patio ,

lol Sorry I am always to lazy to retype everything.
I am sure I've that that here before.

All I tried was one and that was in the start menu then I right clicked and saw NOTHING familar.
I have to go to the literal file and then right click ?

Thanks so much for the help,
MP.1) Right-click on the desktop - new - shortcut - enter the path to the file or
2) Open Windows Explorer - navigate to the folder containing the file - right-click on the file - drag to the desktop - create shortcut or
3) Open the start menu, find the icon of the file, right-click and drag to the desktop - copy

Same as every other Windows operating system. Quote from: Allan on January 17, 2011, 03:40:08 PM

Number 3 is the way I normally have DONE it but when I tried on her laptop there was no option to creat shortcut or anythign familar for that fact. Nothing even CLOSE ?

She gone now but it was killing me not being able to do it cause generally it is a very simple thing to do.

Thanks much,
