Answer» Hi, Attach:I think that is very clever but a bit too complicated for an old guy like me. If I use the font you are using at size 24 the window is about 2/3 the size of the screen. At size 28 the window is full size but all the words don't fit inside. There is a bar at the bottom so you can scroll across and see the rest of the text. This is old dos stuff that runs our business. On XP it works full screen but, as time marches on, I guess we have to progress to win7. My glasses are 2.5X (maybe I am around your age) and I would like to see things as big as possible. Any ideas about adding more fonts? Why does the size of the window change when I change the font size? There is a setting for window size in columns (width) and rows (height). It is on the Window Properties tab called Layout. Old Dos programs generally assume a screen 80 columns wide. What I suggest you do is make the width of the window 80 columns and the height 25 rows, and then monkey around with the font size, window width and height settings until you get somewhere, not forgetting that the maximize/restore buttons at the top right will have an effect. Also if you uncheck "Let system position window" and set Window Position Left and Right to 0 (zero) then the window top left corner will be fixed to the top left of the screen and you can make the window grow to the right and downwards by altering the settings I have mentioned. Don't forget to click OK after altering settings, or they won't stick. Note: the Screen BUFFER Size width will change to reflect your Screen Width setting, and the Screen Buffer depth setting governs how far up you can scroll to see previous screen activity. If you set it the same as the screen height Quote from: Salmon Trout on June 16, 2013, 06:38:54 AM If you set it the same as the screen height... Sorry, I forgot to complete that. If you set the Screen Buffer height the same as the Window Size height you get no vertical scroll bar. I have changed the layout as you suggested. That is what I am looking for 80 x 25. Font Lucinda console is the best match. On size 28 the text is wider than the screen by 5 characters. If when the window is open I right click on the BLUE bar at the top of the window, the properties layout tab shows a screen width of 75. If I change it to 80 it just changes back to 75. The maximize button does not change the size of the screen - just moves the whole screen a few millimeters to the left. Is there any way to add another font? I am sure somewhere there is one which will fit. Regards Geoffl |
