Solve : Add or remove programs list issues? Or something more sinister....??

Answer»

I am running Win XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service pack 2 and have a question about the Add and REMOVE Programs screen.
My question is that I seem to have this large blanked out space between the listing of two of the programs. The screen is either blacked out or has alternating wide black/white stripes. I am concerned that maybe something has taken over part of my machine and is HIDING the listing.
Is that possible? If it was caused by something malicious, how do I remove the blanked out part? Or is it nothing to be concerned about?
The computer itself is a Compaq Presario w/Celeron 2.53 GHz and 760 MB ram.

TIA for any help,

No. I have not.If you've updated and run antivirus and antispyware scans and have come up with nothing, then I wouldn't be too concerned. Sometimes windoze just messes up and doesn't know how to fix itself.

Alan <>< Could be a badly coded program uninstaller. For example, AutoCAD is famous for causing this problem, it creates an incorrect registry entry for the uninstaller icon.

You may want to get "X-Setup", and see what it finds. It used to be free, not it's a shareware, but it should be functional enough for your problem.
A lot of good reading here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/170295-46-remove-programs-empty-spaceOut of curiosity what does the Tools section of Ccleaner show, you may even be able to delete the blank space from there.
If not a quick Google for "add remove" +white brings up plenty of remedies.I just remembered the other APP that causes this Photoshop...Thanks for the tips..
I will try one or more when I get the chance...
