How many programs are you not able to remove via the Add or Remove Programs panel?  Normally, this should not happen and it makes me wonder whether somebody has been tampering with programs files on your hard drive and has, indeed, removed files.

Also, tell us what protections you're using against viruses and spyware. Are you trying to remove files or trying to remove programs?Soybean, being new to computers and 62 years old, I had trouble even getting back to you, I found you through search, congratulations on your MASSIVE input to people like us, you certainly do a great job.  Now my PROBLEM as best i can explain is this,  I have a Windows xp pro Dell Optiplex GX270, 2.8,  512 mb. COA and nero installed.  I have had problems with a number of items.
1. Since i updated to media player 11 i could not get my live racing through n.s.w. TAB, and after several days was advised by them that I would have to rollback to media player 10. I uninstalled media player 11 however it would not automatically roll back to media player 10  I went to another section and eventually downloaded media player 10 on three occasions and on every occasion I received THIS VERSION OF WINDOWS MEDIA TECHONOLGIES IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION OF WINDOWS. Soybean, Sorry i couldn't fit all my problems in the one message, so continuing here and hope you get them.  many thanks.  In reply to your information, I have mostly gone to the control panel, then add/remove and removed the program.  I have also on occasion done it from the uinstall option in the program menu.  Some items have been successfully deleted and some not.  I would probable have about seven or eight programs where I get replies like INSTALLATION LOG FILE NOT FOUND -  or  -DOES NOT EXIST  or FILE NAME IS NOT THERE   or COULD NOT LOAD LANGUAGE FILE  or FATAL ERROR - COULD NOT OPEN PAULS BLACKJACK.  On some occasions I get ....has been successfully removed, but when I go to programs adn and and remove programs the thing is still there.  My computer tech was recently here and did a number of things and since then I have found these problems.I have spyware doctor and avg installed.   Hoping you can help me here and many many thanks.i have removed my sound from my computer and can not get it back can any 1 help me ??  rider please start your own topic instead of posting in someone else's and please give more information on your problem.
