can anyone please help me?

when i turn on my computer, it won't BOOT. I have to restart it all the time, it can take the whole day long. but i've noticed something, everytime i hear a high squealing sound coming from my computer, it boots. then i log on and everything seems fine, then about 3-5 minutes later i hear the same sound agian. my computer either freezes or restarts. i did run a virus check but nothing came up.

can SOMEONE please help me?!

bfThe squealing sound may be a clue.

There are few moving components in a modern PC that can make a squealing noise. Sounds like it may be time to upgrade/replace the HD or the fan. I WOULD suggest finding out what brand of HD is in there, then going to that manufacturers website and obtaining and running some of their own diagnostic software (usually a free download). Also open up the case and clean the fan. Like all motors, it attracts dust. Sooner or later enough dust bunnies can build up to CAUSE the machine to kill the fan or heat up. A hot PC will not run right. The HD uses little rubber bands (no not really, but close enough for the analogy) similar to a cars fanbelt to control how the drive spins. You can't access them and to my knowledge no one offers repair kits anymore (back in the days of Commodore and Atari there were do it yourself repair kits, but those companies died off during the computer wars). The only solution is to replace the drive itself. Try REBOOTING the machine with the cover off and listen for the squeal. You should be able to see then which of the two it is (could also be the floppy or CD drives if those exist on your machine). Remember to obtain and use back up software capable of transferring your system first if your HD will be replaced.
Thank you for your advise. it will come to good use.
