Answer» my computer started giving off a weird alarm sound recently. it comes and goes and sounds like ONE of those european police sirens, hi-low-hi-low,and will stop after a few MINUTES. to add to problems the system has begun to operatle slooooowly latley and when i TRY to shut down it restarts automaticly , also it is returning many error codes. is it time for professional help or does any one have any ideas so i can fix problem. windows xp -five years old. Start by replacing the CMOS battery...about the SIZE of a dime on your MBoard. Part # CR 2032 available at any local shop and maybe WallyWorld. As always when working inside the case remove all power SOURCES and take anti-static precautions...Is your computer laptop or desktop, also what brand or windows operating system?
