Everytime I try to open any program an error message comes up ' The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an ASSOCIATION in the folder options control PANEL.'

This applies to program files already on my hard drive as well as progranm files recenmtly downloaded.

have you tried right click on the files/program open with option...I have but it happens to every single file on my hard drive. It seems that an exe file is missing as there is nothing that i can open - this has just happened in the last couple of DAYS and was not a problem before. I cannot even open any files on my control panei would run a scan for trojans /worms...>http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/                       then is it comes up clean......re-boot pc and hold down the f8 safe mode and chose the last GOOD config..have you download the sp2 service pack..There was a thread on this not too long ago, Computer_Commando posted a solution. Use the search machine to SEE if you can find it.
