It also cancels my screen saver after it starts.  It occurs every 15 to 20 minutes.

I am running windows XP on a hp pav. a465c.  I've run various spyware scans using Aol
  
and MICROSOFT spyware removal progs., but they find nothing.  I run norton's ANTIVIRUS and it  

finds nothing either.  I TRIED system restore but the problem always come back.  I THINK it

might be java related.  I would appreciate any kind of help.Hammer:

Try using the Windows XP System Configuration Utility to disable any STARTUP programs you think may be causing the problem:

1. Click Start and click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
3. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the Startup tab.
4. Clear the check box next to any suspicious program.
5. Click Apply and Close.
6. Click Restart in the message box.
7. After your computer restarts, see if the symptoms persist.

Let us know the name of any program listed in the System Configuration Utility that you are unsure about disabling.

Thank you very much I think that did it.  There were several start-up programs whose only

job was to query the web for updates I unchecked all of them and played on of my games

for about an hour.  At this point all seems ok.  Thank you again.Hammer:
