Answer» I currently am using Itunes and have an Iphone. I have no issues with either. A friend wants no part of Itunes and is looking to purchase an android phone with at least 32 gb so he can download his music. Which program would you suggest he uses, similar to Itunes, where he can purchase and play his music and copy his CD's to his phone as well.
There are so, so many apps for the Android for BUYING music on-line and cataloging into a a library. Hard to pick one.
This might be a starting point... Media library Android Apps
Besides music, both free and paid, many city and county libraries now have sites where you can download eBooks for Android or iPhone for free. And some music too. Dayton Metro Library. Books and Music.
This many help narrow your search: Top 5 Android Apps for Downloading Free Music
Overall, Android has a wider selection that just Apple. Many third-parties offer both Android and Apple apps and media.in my opinion.....for android phones, the Android Market is the best place to search anything you need...Most Android phones come with their own software specific to the brand of phone for the purposes of copying files, backing up contacts, etc. (for example, Samsung phones use Samsung Kies). Many phones can also be connected to the computer in a "mass storage device" mode that allows copying directly to the phone's external SD card without using any software (aside from the phone's regular driver). Or the SD card can be removed and INSERTED into an SD card reader in the computer and copied then put back in the phone.
Google Play (formerly called Android Market, Android's equivalent to the iTune's app store) can be accessed directly from the phone's Google Play app (called "Play Store"). Alternatively, when logged into Google Play from any computer and the phone is added to the account, programs can be selected from the WEB browser on the computer and will automatically be sent to the phone for installation through WIFI, 3G, or other data connection without the need to connect the phone to the computer or install any software on the computer (see example screenshot).
Now, as to finding a phone with 32GB built-in, he'll have some trouble because very few models have that much. Some have 16GB at most, some even LESS (as low as 512M or 1GB for some phones). The only 32GB one I can think of off the top of my head is the new version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which is currently on pre-order with most providers. It comes with 32GB built-in, and can take an additional 32GB external card.
Unlike iPhones, most Android phones can take an external SD-micro card. For most phones, the external SD card is usually limited to 32GB.

I have absolutely no idea why you post some of the things you do...
What a silly load of rubbish.OK. I will try harder. Yeah, that was kinda lame.. But thee is a new item just out that is something else. Did you hear that the motion sensor on an Android might be used to monitor your messages? Really! Somebody goat a headline that reads:
Proof-of-concept Android Trojan app analyzes motion sensor data to determine tapped keys. QuoteResearchers design an app that analyzes subtle smartphone movements to infer what's being typed on touchscreens
Story Here ... So, the OP may WANT to find an app that turns off the motion sensor!Google Play https://play.google.com/store Amazon Appstore for Android http://www.amazon.com/b?node=2350149011
The Amazon Appstore for Android is cool. They have the Free App of the Day where you can get a paid app for free every day. Most are not very appealing but now and the a really good one is offered.
And like quaxo said. Android is not like Apple. You can pay dearly for a good phone and only have a few gb of internal storage which will be mostly taken up by the default crap features put there by the manufacturer and the service provider. You can get good 32gb Mini SD Cards at a reasonable price on Amazon. Might as well save frustration and get one before the phone is purchased.Cool! They just now have a free app, looks like a game. Burt you have to apply withing about 2:50 from now before they take it down. Link via e-mail only. You have to use the Amazon Apppstore App to get the free app of the day.Quote from: wildwood on April 17, 2012, 06:07:21 PMWhich program would you suggest he uses, similar to Itunes I can't see any answers to this particular question, so can I recommend Media Monkey? http://www.mediamonkey.com/
The free version will be fine for most purposes.
