Solve : Annoying error message? |
|
Answer» Hi. Can you tell me how I get rid of this annoying error message that APPEARS everytime I sign into live messenger after booting up. If it helps I downloaded internet explorer 8 beta recently then uninstalled it a few days ago after I started getting the blue screen of death. Since reverting back to IE7 I get that error message everytime I log into messenger after start up and don't get the small web window that usually appears when you start messenger. I downloaded internet explorer 8 betaBy now, you know, that running beta programs on main computer is not a good idea. Try System Restore. My system restore on Vista only goes back to the 26th September - I installed IE8 beta abut 4/5 weeks ago before that. Is there any way to restore to an earlier time after you have already selected 'show resore points older then 5 days' so I can restore to beofre I installed IE8 beta. ThanksUninstall Messenger: 1. Click Start -> Run, type control in the dialog box and click Ok 2. Click Add or Remove Programs 3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components from the section on the left 4. Toward the bottom of the list, uncheck Windows Messenger 5. Click NEXT and follow any additional prompts to complete the uninstall and to remove any traces of the old Microsoft Messenger. Download fresh copy. Disable UAC: 1. Click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control On or Off. 2. Uncheck the box next to “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help PROTECT your computer” 3. Click on “OK”. 4. It will say you need to reboot, and it isn’t kidding so GO ahead and reboot. 5. Once you’ve rebooted into Vista, install Windows Messenger, and then follow the same instructions above, this time placing the check in the box, to re-enable UAC. didn't work I'm AFRAID. Does anyone else know how to get rid of that annoying error message attached to original post when starting MSN messenger up? It comes up intead of the accompanying web window that opens with messenger at sign in. What does BSOD say? |
