This isn't an issue of not being able to install a driver. It's about installing one that should not have been installed.

Hehe, with little data you have, the proper assumption was made. Norton or bust.Man i hope i win this one......but if the OP does not reply again, then this topic is dead.Quote from: Allan on February 01, 2010, 03:59:16 PM
At what point did the problem become about an anti virus? There is no correlation. Let's move on.

cyborg - I assume you did more than download that driver, I assume you installed it. Have you since uninstalled it?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least a dozen times now, probably more, it has been a daily routine now. I get up have breakfast and turn the computer on and try it again. There is a feature in Norton 360 where I turn off the Firewall and/or anti virus, which I have tried both.. I hate to reset my computer back to the way it was when I bought it, but I can do that, but it will take a about a month to reinstall all my software.

It was supposed to be an automatic fix from the HP we site. What TICKS me off is that I really didn't need those buttons to work, I just thought it would be cool to have them on my keyboard.Quote from: patio on January 31, 2010, 04:23:50 PM
What does SONAR have to do with it...and wouldn't uninstalling Norton and re-installing be easier? ? ?
Yes, Yes.Just out of curiosity, what happens if you try a different keyboard?Quote from: Allan on February 03, 2010, 05:51:40 AM

No, this the one one that came with the computer. I can pick up another one at Micro CENTER or some place that.
I found Sonar, it is a feature of Norton. I have been reviewing the comments and I am going back to Norton to see if I can disable it.Quote from: cyborg3 on February 05, 2010, 11:41:36 AM

I turned off Sonar, no luck. I Disabled Norton with no luck. It has to be some kind of virus. I have run all kinds of spy removal software with no luck. If I restored my computer back to the way when it was new, does anyone think that would work.?Quote
I Disabled Norton
Norton has disability insurance.
Remove it!
After that you uninstall and re install the needed drivers.Do you mean remove Norton?Quote from: cyborg3 on February 05, 2010, 04:15:23 PM
It has to be some kind of virus.

I SUGGEST to go to the Computer Virus and Spyware removal forum, and post a new topic requesting help.

Copy the URL of this thread, and paste it in your first post, then wait for the helper. Before I go to virus' let me update. I uninstalled Norton 36 using their removal tool; I installed McAfee Security Suite from AT&T Uverse site. Scanned computer; it found 4 trojans, and 2 high risk PROBLEMS. I then removed the trojans and hig risk items using their options.

The same problem returned when I rebooted.
While the failure to load message as on the screen, I went to the task manager. Under Applications I right clicked the item (failure to load), an option window popped up with an option "Go to Process. That pointed me to rundll32.exe After reading what that does, I think that is where the problem is.

Now what?
Start a new thread. You suspect a Trojan or worm.
That is a DLL that might have been modified by malware.I would suggest CLICKING Here... and following the instructions...
