Answer» Im sure many have asked this I tried a search and got a bunch of meaningless bull... I just got a Toshiba Satellite A135-s2276 500mb ram DUAL core 1.6ghz... I was surprised to find Mcaffe would survive on my comp for almost 24 hrs. I allways turn to your help for antivirus ect. I'm looking for something that can be turned off easily as i dont need it very often (not-online) and also not being to resource hungry...fat_basterd21 .... You might wish to TRY AVG Free Anti-virus...... it's Vista compatible and easy to turn on and off. dl65 Give AVG a try. It has a strong following in this forum and others. For personal use, you can get the free version, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.467. Otherwise, go to http://www.grisoft.com/Thanx alot I see avg all the time didnt know if it was still a good choice...Amazing a brand new laptop would produce 3 threads in such a SHORT time....contact Toshiba to see if there is an XP option for no charge. Double-clicking the tray icon opens the AVG Control Panel...there are 2 views normal and advanced...from there you can set your schedule for when it should run/update. Mine updates at 4 AM and scans at 5 AM. I never see it and it does it's job seamlessly, just what i want out of a program.Ok but what I meant by on/off is I only have INTERNET when im at a hot-spot. Do I really need antivirus running all the time? AVG does SEEM to run quite smoothly though... No reason not to. You only have to have a few moments connected to an insecure network.....
