This is not good. Go to the run command and type ipconfig look for the reference to this file and uncheck it / reboot into Safe Mode & run your AV & AS software.

Alan <>< 10X Alan, but as I am UNFAMILIAR with abbs, what do AV & AS stand forAV= Antivirus
AS= Antispyware
I would suggest that you take a look here. (for free AV and AS)

Jonas i noticed ale52 had a typo......i believe he wanted u to go to Start/Run/msconfig....not ipconfig ......Hi guys... I hope there is another way round this 'cause I couldn't even log on in Safe mode....Any ideas??....10Xyou should still be able to access msconfig in real mode. Hi aga...the notebook is caught up in a restarting loop and would not go past the F8 screen. If i select any or none of the safe modes, it would CONTINUE to restart no matter what??..Can't get a pin on this problem!!..Any suggestions?...Well what happens?
Do you get a blue screen?
Are you able to read it or is it to fast?

Jonas Hi jonas,
thanx ofr ur reply....Yes , I am getting a bllue screen, and it is too fast. Nevertheless, I managed to freeze it @ the blue screen through the option in f8 saying ''Disable auto restart on system failure'. ..Anyway, the blue screen says,
****STOP: {0X00000024, 0X82E9CEF0, 0XC0000102, 0X00000000}.

By the way, my OS is winxp Pro, not Home edition.

10X agn man,..Looking 4ward to hearing from all you guys.This error is caused by a seriously fragmented hard drive or an actual physical problem with the drive itself...

If you are unable to start Windows normally you may have to swap it into another machine to run both chkdsk and defrag on that drive.

I would also visit the drive manuf. site and DLoad and run their diagnostics to see if the drive is getting ready to fail.

When you move it to another machine make sure it is jumpered as slave and DO NOT TRY to boot it in the other machine...
