Solve : Arrangement of names typed alphabetically?

I typed the NAMES of about 30 persons randomly.  Being a beginner, I tried hard but could not arrange them alphabetically in windows XP. 
What is the system or keys or any solultion?
Please let me know about it.What did you type them in? word excel notepad  ...etc.

If you are using Ms-Excel then TRY the below steps:

Select the items and pull-down:

1). Goto "Data" on the top then Click "SORT"
2). Now you get TWO options; Ascending and Descending
Select the one accordingly
