Answer» I searched the subject and FOLLOWED the trouble shooting with no LUCK. Opinions much appreciated.
Just yesterday during operation my desktop stopped producing sound. When I open Itunes a warning popped up SAYING "audio/video playback is corrupted". Sure enough no sound from I-tunes or any other program.
The weird thing is when STARTING up the computer I can hear windows boot up. Also the volume control icon on the task bar disappears 20 seconds after my desktop appears during starting; and I can use/hear it regularly during those 20 seconds before it disappears.
In the Sound & Audio Device Properties WINDOW in my control panel all the audio and sound tabs are grey/un-highlighted. So I can't changes settings or defaults.
I've reinstalled all original device and windows drivers from the manufacturer CD.
It doesn't appear to be a bad sound card, but I can't mess with my settings to isolate the problem. What can it be!!!
Cheers and Thanks
Kolermos
