Solve : auto log off?

my friend has an compaq pisarrio runnin xp everytime he logs in it auto restarts how can he fix this problem, he said after he downloaded norton anti virus thats when problems started,he also cant run in safe mode any help appreciatedYou're going to want to try a Repair Install:

Note: Repair Install will not remove any of your files.Is he able to boot into Safe Mode with Command prompt?

do that, and type:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe


press enter, give it a few moments and see if it will allow him to restore the system to before Norton was installed..no he cant go in safe mode it does the same thing as SOON as he as logged on the main screen comes on for a second and logs off straight awayTry removing one of the memory modules and see if it boots...
You MAY have some bad RAM....... If you have two ram modules, remove one, and see if it works... If it doesn't, put the other one back in, removing the other one and try again..

If you only see one memory module in the COMPUTER, remove it and power one the comptuer... Some laptops have onboard ram that cannot be removed, so removing the additional ram stick is all you can do..
