Solve : automatic logging off loop!? |
|
Answer» I am having serious problems with my machine. i recently did a virus scan and after the reboot i was STUCK in the automatic log off loop. i think that my anti virus moved my registries and now i can't even get on in safe mode as the administrator. I have tried to boot off of my xp cd but i just get a blank screen with the small line at the top. I have tried to get a floppy boot but i don't know the command prompts after i get to the black screen with the A:\ showing. I would like to save the stuff i have on the machine now but it is not that important. the only other in the house is a mac so i am limited. any help would be appreciated!make sure you check the "boot device order" or similarly named entries in BIOS/setup and make sure that cd drive is set as a boot device, and preferably the first boot device. i turned off everything but the cd drive i can hear the disc spinning but it never boots off of it. i tried to copy the cd to a jump USB and it does the same thing. i can boot off a floppy but i don't know what to type in after thatMoved to the Windows XP forum. It might be WORTHWHILE to see what Microsoft thinks the problem is. They may be displaying a "Stop Code" message on a blue screen which is being masked by the quick transition to an automatic restart. 2. Disable Auto Restart. Use the function key during system startup to access the Windows Advanced Options Menu. Tap the <F8> key once or twice per second as you startup the computer (or immediately after POST completes and screen flashes black prior to displaying Windows XP logo with its processing bar display). From the Windows Advanced Options menu, use the up/down arrow keys to select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and hit . Hopefully it will stop on a Blue Screen. 3. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Report the "exact" STOP code string with its four parameters as well as any short error string and/or software module it might name. |
