Solve : AV software in startup.?

Answer»

For some reason, my AV software is EXTREMELY slow to start on computer startup. Is there any way that I can move it up the LIST of startup programs, because I THINK it's one of the last?It will still take the same amount of time...what A/V ? ? Quote from: patio on April 22, 2009, 07:10:03 PM

CA Anti virus security suite. I'm not trying to speed it up, it's just that my computer is basically defenseless untill it starts up...Unplug the modem til Windows loads fully...
But an A/V is not going to stop an incoming threat...just detect it. Quote from: patio on April 22, 2009, 07:26:36 PM

It comes with a FIREWALL, malware scanner, and a bunch of other stuff. How long does it take?

If you want to speed it up, add more memory. Quote from: JJ 3000 on April 22, 2009, 07:29:17 PM

It doesn't matter how fast it is, but I remember when I had a nortan security suite, it finished starting up ALMOST first thing. Can I modify my startup and put the CA higher up?Startup Delayer: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/startdelay.html
One of the reason, I don't like suites, and I prefer separate firewall program. Quote

Ok, I moved all my AV programs (3 for firewall and 1 for scanner) to the top...closed it and hope it works...What do you mean by "3 for firewall"? Quote from: Broni on April 22, 2009, 08:25:11 PM

I checked the path, I have one process for the firewall, one for updating, and another for I have no clue...it doesn't even have an icon like the rest...I think, you're overreacting. I don't think, there is even very slim chance, your computer will get compromized in a matter of 30 seconds between pushing power button, and the firewall being up.
