Solve : Background On Desktop Went Away?

Answer»

I THANK you in advance for any help. I am on a computer with Windows XP.

I have looked for this problem and could not find it.

I am unsure if it even belongs here, so please bear with me.

I tried to change the image on my Desktop, by right clicking an image and choosing Set As Desktop Background. INSTEAD of the image, I am greeted by an empty, white Desktop with a Picture Icon in the top right corner. Even setting the background as one of the images that come with Windows, does not change the background.

The image is only visible for a short time after Start Up or Log In, before the icons appear, and after Shut Down or Log Out, after the icons disappear. It is only a minor annoyance, but I have to wonder if this problem could spread.

So here are my questions, What made my Desktop disappear? And, Is this something I should be worried about?

Thank you in advance for any help or thoughts on this topic.Try System RESTORE...Toboe, that's just weird!

When you right click on the desktop then select properties then select the desktop tab, what picture is showing as the desktop bg?are the wallpaper from the internet?did you save the image in your hdd?
try to save the image in the hdd & then right click it select as background.Interesting..
My son's computer has done the same thing.
I tried to assign a new picture for the desk top but the silly thing will not let me.
I can only change the desktop color....
As kuszmania9999 pointed out, are you TRYING to change the desktop bg to a picture you have saved onto your PC or to a picture on the web?In my case the pictures are saved to the hard drive.

The system acts like the permission for this feature has been turned off...
