Solve : Backing Up Registry?

Answer»

I have WINxp Home Edition so I don't have the Windows Backup Utility feature which I BELIEVE is included in the Pro Edition only.I have an external hardrive and periodically I would LIKE to back up my registry. What's the best way of doing this?SEE How to Use the Backup Utility to Back Up Files and FOLDERS in Windows XP Home Edition.  "The Backup utility is included on the Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM in the ValueAdd folder. To use Backup, you must install the utility manually."Can I do a manual backup without using the Windows Backup Utility?ACTUALLY can't you do it by going to, start->run->type "regedit", then right click the my computer drop down, then click export. It should then be saved as filename.reg. Hope that helps.

ERUNT.Here's another vote for Erunt.

Note that you cannot used Export/Import to backup/restore the entire XP registry without causing an enormous stuff-up...  Read the MS page at the link supplied by Dl65
