Answer» Brand new Acer Aspire 5251-1513, Windows 7
When I click on the Start Menu, Getting Started>Tasks(8 choices, including Discover Windows 7, Back up your files ), every choice links to a window with this address: Computer>Acer(C:)> Windows>SYSTEM32 . All the other links in Start seem to go to the right applications.
Acer Help is telling me to pay them to fix this. Isn't it a defect(or sabotage?) in this copy of Windows? Is it fixable by me? I'm no expert, but I can follow step by step instructions.
This is returnable in the next 10 days, but otherwise it seems like it's fine for my uses, so I really don't want to.
Anybody KNOW of any other annoying "glitches" in this laptop?Well there are work-arounds for problems. Try this go to the CONTROL panel and select backup your computer. See if it lets you access the backup utility this way. Attached is what the window should look like if you infact get the utility to start up
[recovering disk space - OLD attachment deleted by admin]Great, that works. I can find some of the topics. The only one that isn't there that I'd like to find is the Discover Windows 7 tutorial. Not necessary, but I'd like to see it.It appears it's a simple matter of corrupt shortcuts. Just delete the shortcuts that don't work in the start menu and create new ones.I know how to put shortcuts on the desktop, but not on to a menu. If you can show me step by step that WOULD be great. Also how do I find the location these things are supposed to point to if they are not in the control panel?Feel free to create them on your desktop. Then right-click on the shortcut icon and drag it over the START button. The Start menu will open. Continue to drag the icon to the folder where you want it then release the right mouse button and choose "move here".Im pretty sure that these are the discover window 7 videos that you are looking for
