pretty sure its related to my gpu because whenever I use the laptop the display adapter resets itself or stops working at it restarts to blue screen and then I get the error message above when windows loads. ive reinstalled drivers old and new. reformatted to factory condition but nothing seems to solve it. im starting to think that the gpu is slowly failing

specs: Dell Inspiron M5010 AMD Phenom II N870 Triple-Core Processor 2.30 ghz 640 GB Harddrive 6GB Ramanyone?

You said it.
At this point that is the more logical deduction.
Blue screen codes may not correctly identify hardware failures.
IMO you should find what options are available in your area. In some places there are great technicians that can troubleshoot down to chip and components. But hard to find such MEN elsewhere.

The Dell Inspiration M5010 is rather old. -Right? It is maybe worth about $110 in good condition. Maybe you can swap or trade yours plus some money for a unit in better condition. That could be cheaper than t a costly  repair.

Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply==================================================

I bought it in march 2011. Im not interested in putting anymore money into an old laptop, I can buy a new pc if need be but im just looking to find out if what I suspect is really going on with it and then ill take it from there.

note: whenever I watch videos on youtube etc..  at some point the video just turns green and I cant watch any video, im sure its related to the issue im having1) You've shown only one bsod
2) Please go to the website of your laptop manufacturer and download and install the most current drivers for the display adapter, the chipset, and see if there is a more current bios flash.
3) Download and install the most current release of directXthat's the only one I had since I recently reformatted, ive tried using old dell drivers for my gpu and new ones, and also ones from amd,  and still have  same issues.  chipset is up to date and so is my biosIf it's a Dell...and a laptop...those are the only Drivers you should be using... I am currently using dell drivers, I tried the drivers from amd just to see if the issue would be fixed. In device manager, are there any yellow or red symbols? If not, I agree it's probably the display adapter. Quote from: Allan on November 09, 2014, 12:12:33 PM
