Solve : big stuff up! - (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT problem maybe?)?

Answer»

Hello- I have a major problem here, from what I can tell (from my next to none [uknowledge) will have to reload windows. Tell me if you have an other option, thanks.
(windows xp home, sp2)

I tried to update my zune software-needed 3.1 UPDATER. Wouldn't do it though the update windows site-some error, so I had to manually download it. And still wouldn't work, some access error. Found this forum, and they had a solution. It was this:
Link Edit
“Apparently all that was really needed is to right-click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in regedit, and add my user name in Special permissions”
I did that, and then went back to the installer and it worked. Went to restart, nothing, waited another 10 minutes, pressed it again and nothing. So I held the button in and turned it off. Now when I turn it on, all is sweet until it gets to the blue windows welcome screen. Then it FREEZES. Just the windows xp is in the middle right of the screen. The mouse moves, buy thats it. PRESS the power button and nothing. Have restarted it a few times, and keeps freezing on that screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't have 'great' computer skills, just ENOUGH to play with the root and stuff my pc
Thanks.See if you can boot into safe mode and remove the software. Keep tapping F8 while you're booting and a menu will come up. Choose safe mode.still freezes on the logo screen, even in safe mode .
Thanks anyway. ANYOTHER ideas people? You can attempt to recover a backup of the registry.
This article describes how:

I suggest you read it carefully before attempting it and printing out a copy wouldn't hurt either.
You will need an Windows XP install disc, an OEM recovery disc won't work.
If you have disabled System Restore this procedure won't work.thanks, but not the blue screen i was talking about-i think. i did try it though, and i couldn't get it to work.
its the blue screen that has the xp logo, just before the login page, almost the same page-just with out the names.
