Answer» I recently removed some malware from my computer and now I'm unable to access my welcome screen on startup. All I am presented with is a black screen with a mouse pointer. Some preliminary research TELLS me that this could be caused from file CORRUPTION resulting from the malware. From what I understand, the only solution is to run a Windows XP repair. However, I don't have a Windows CD to use, only my Vaio recovery CDs. My questions -- are there any other solutions I may be overlooking? If not, I plan on running a recovery, but I need to back up my DATA. Is there a way to back up to an external hard drive without being able to access Windows?
