Solve : blackout monitor?

Answer»

I was wondering why does my computer boots while there's no display on my SCREEN? my monitor has built in monitor already, can someone SUGGEST what should i do?A little more information would be helpful.I don't understand what the problem or issue is.

Is it a desktop or laptop computer?  If desktop, does it have onboard graphics?  I think you're saying you get no display upon system boot.  But the following is beyond my comprehension "my monitor has built in monitor already".

Does anything display on the monitor at any time?my cpu is booting normally, but there's no display on monitor, is maybe power or video card? my cpu has built in monitorit is a desktop

1.  Does anything at all display on the monitor at any time?
     a.  With computer powered off, monitor "switched" on; does anything display on the screen (No video signal message)?
     b.  Is monitor adjustment done with On-Screen Display?  If so, can you display its menus or instructions on monitor?
     c.  When you startup computer, does monitor display:
          a.  Graphics card, motherboard, or computer vendor logo
          b.  Text from Power-On Self Test (POST) diagnostics
          c.  Windows XP loading windows (with progress bar) screen

2.  Monitor.
    a.  Is it a CRT or LCD display?
    b.  Did you adjust the "Display Properties" (e.g. resolution, color depth, refresh rate) recently or switch from ONE monitor to another?
    c.  Have you tried a "known" working monitor on your system?
    d.  Have you tried your monitor on a "known" working system?i was checking this out because my difficulty is similar. my lcd screen is blank when i start my computer up. screen says no video input. monitor WORKS if \i hook it up to another computer. for some time, if I shut my computer off, when i restart, there would be nothing on the screen until i reboot with the reset button, then all would be good. but for the last week, i have had to reset lots to get the screen and now if i get a screen it blacks out after the windows logo.
using a friends computer at present
