Answer» Hello, my computer is running windows XP and I have had the windows update page show up blank for a pretty long time now. I tried following all the Microsoft help page about the blank windows update page but none of that stuff worked.
I did a google search and came across this forum post: http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/windows-xp/3363-windows-update-page-doesnt-load-its-blank.html
one of the guys said: --------------------------------- Turns out a bunch of stuff was unregistered. Here's what worked for me: regsvr32 jscript regsvr32 vbscript regsvr32 /i mshtml ---------------------------------
I tried to register the above stuff and here is what it said:
The vbscript one said "DllregisterServer in vbscript succeeded"
The jscript one says "Loadlibrary("jscript") failed - Access is denied."
The /i mshtml one says "mshtml was loaded, but the DllregisterServer entry point was not found. mshtml does not appear to be a .DLL or .OCX file."
So could it be that the problem is with the jscript.dll and the /i mshtml thing?
I also remember finding another site that said to register some other stuff aswell. I forgot what it said to register but there was also another thing that I tried to register and it didn't not succeed.
I have also downloaded and RAN the Windows Script 5.6 that I got from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en
When I run the Windows Script 5.6 file it says "Error REGISTERING the OCX C:\Windows\system32\jscript.dll" after I click okay it then says "Windows Script 5.6 is now installed"
So how can I fix this problem with jscript.dll?? I hope someone can help me because I have tried many times before to GET this fixed but I have never succeeded.
My computer is a HP Pavilion a1120n running Windows XP
