Answer» I use Win XP Home Edition, version 5.1.2600 Service Pack Build 2600. When using Windows my COMPUTER will crash with a blue screen, beginning dump of Physical Memory. I will turn computer off. Sometimes Windows will load again, but other times a black screen appears and says to either reboot from CD or to press Ctr\Alt\Del over and over again. When I have tried to RELOAD Windows, everything loads, but when instructed to press Enter, screen comes up that it can't lad because of disk problem. Help!!Next time it runs properly run chkdsk from Programs/Accessories/System Tools... Let it run til it finishes which may take awhile and then re-boot.I have run the CHKDSK, but it still happens. Is there a program I can download to repair this problem or some part of Windows XP that I can use to help? I have even tried to reinstall the Windows and then did the R (repair) but it same thing.Go to Start/Run and TYPE in sfc /scannow and hit Enter... Have your XP CD handy. When it finishes REMOVE the CD and re-boot.
If this does not clear it up the machine is probably overheating and needs some housekeeping...There are times when I turn my computer on I will hear what it sounds like is the black fan located on the top right of my console. It makes a loud sound and sometimes the sound will slowly stop. If it is this fan overheating where or how can I find out if it is overheating?I would remove a side panel and see what it looks like in there... BEST item for cleaning is a soft brush and a can of compressed air... Use a QTip to hold fans in blace when blasting them to prevent damage.
As always when working in the case remove all power sources and take static precautions...
