Answer» Hi There I recently allowed a lot of Windows Updates to install at once, after which I keep getting a blue screen with the error: INVALID_PROCESS_DETACH_ATTEMPT Also, each time I boot a window to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Tool" appears before anything loads. I've clicked cancel each time. A system restore to before the updates won't work. Any help diagnosing and fixing this problem is much appreciated! It was said that there cannot be enough info about your system included with your post so I've run an Everest report which tells about my system in great detail - but would like to PM it to a volunteer as I'm not sure its WISE to reveal this much on the net... Another way is, get in the BIOS and turn of the option of Autostart at system failure.Thanks for the response Micheal Smith Windows was installed by a FRIEND so may not be valid - but don't think that's causing the blue screen error as I have not installed the WindowsGenuineAdvantage program, only been prompted to do so. What will happen if I turn off Autostart on System Failure in the BIOS? Restore your original operating system from your OEM recovery or Windows Install disc. OR resolve first your WGA notification as already suggested.The blue screen has not appeared again but I wanted to say thanks for your suggestions
