Solve : blue screen vista. no disk drive?

Answer»

I have a problem that is doing my head in, i ran windows upgrade and next morning my computer (toshiba satellite) had crashed, on start attempt i got the blue screen and it attempted a restart, this just goes on and on. I disabled restart and the blue screen remains.
I cannot boot in safe or any sort of safe mode, still get blue screen

I also had a problem previously with my disk drive not reading disks so cant boot with a disk.

this is the text from blue screen

(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article.)
A driver attempted to write to read-only memory. Commonly occurs after installing a faulty DEVICE driver, system service, or FIRMWARE. If a driver file is named in the error message, try to correct the problem by disabling, removing, or rolling back the driver.
i agree, also if you cant fix it you can buy an external dvd drive and use it to boot from cd
