Solve : bOOT MASTER FAIL?

Answer»

it says my boot master failed. Does that mean my HD is no good
Or can I just try to re install my restore disk?Sounds like the HDD is dead.
But wait. There are other things that give that message. You may have lost the proper settings in the BIOS. Check and see if the BIOS finds the right Hard Drive device.where will that be in the Bios. What am I looking for. What if I just put a different HD and start over. Or that still won't work if something still wrongt in the bios? QUOTE from: sckrem on March 06, 2010, 09:01:19 PM

boot master failed.

Are you sure that's what it says?  It doesn't say "master boot record"?  Or anything along those lines?Does SYSTEM BIOS recognize and correctly identify the hard drive (with correct total capacity)?yes it says boot master fail. Quote from: dahlarbear on March 07, 2010, 03:15:26 AM
Does system BIOS recognize and correctly identify the hard drive (with correct total capacity)?
yes it seems that way Quote from: sckrem on March 08, 2010, 08:21:35 AM
yes it seems that way
1.  What "exactly" does the BIOS report (or list for the drive)?
     a.  Does it report it as an "IDE" or "SATA" interface?
     b.  What drive "identification" string does it report?
     c.  What total capacity does it report?

2.  Which computer?
     a.  Desktop, notebook (laptop), or netbook?
     a.  Make and model name/number of computer if "brand" name; otherwise make and model number of motherboard?I've never seen that error message...
At least not phrased that way...
