Solve : Boot up problems. PLEASE help!?

Answer»

Earlier this morning, I was using my computer for what I usually use it for. Playing games, watching videos, browsing websites like Reddit, etc.

I shut it down (through the Start menu) and take a nap. I wake up and when I try to start the computer back up, it brings up a window that asks me to start Windows Startup Repair, or to start windows NORMALLY. Every time I click Start up repair, it runs a diagnostic and then tells me that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

I click view advanced options for windows recovery and repair and tried everything; even formatting my desktop and restoring it to factory settings through the Dell DataSafe restory and Emergency Backup.

It ran the backup, uninterrupted and restarted. That did nothing and now I'm back to square one.

Is there ANYTHING at all I can do?

I can give you as much information as you need; if I can get access to i (I don't know everything off the top of my head)I suggest we check the hd and ram to start.

1) Hard DRIVE Diagnostics:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

Make sure you select the tool which is appropriate for the BRAND of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of.isotype, useImgBurn:http://www.imgburn.com/to burn.isofile to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), to make the CD bootable.
For Toshiba drives, see here:http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=ServicesSupport/FujitsuDrivesUSandCanada/SoftwareUtilities#diagnostic

2) To check the ram, download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in BIOS, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility.

I'm supposed to do this on my desktop right? How WOULD I be able to download it and run it if the bootup is having problems and I can't log in to windows. You apparently have a working computer since you are posting here. Download the utilities, create bootable cd's per the instructions above and boot to the cd's on the problem system.
