Solve : Booting from USB?

Answer»

So I have an Asus Eee Laptop. I have created a rescue USB[definitely made correctly] using unetbootin(or whatever its called) and I changed the boot order to boot only from "removable device". When I boot up my laptop(with USB in of course) though it says "PLEASE insert bootable media or change the boot order".

Also I only have three options in the boot order; HARDDRIVE, CDrom(which I don't have), and Removable Device [Or Disabled].

Any ideas? Try booting to the device on another machine ...but my bet is it isn't built properly and won't boot on another machine either...Alright Ill give that a try..Just tried on a different Laptop also with XP, and it works just fine.

I do notice that on my laptop the boot order says "removable device" but this ONE says "USB device", so maybe that is the problem? Either way, I only have the above mentioned options in boot order, so what can I do? Went to the Asus forums, and found a thread with the same problem. Just Insert USB stick and tap ESC while booting...it gives a list of available boot devices. Choose USB.

Thanks anyways Patio. That's a nice feature for ASUS to add....saves ALOT of grief.

Glad to hear you got it SOLVED...
