Solve : Booting new Netbook??

Answer»

(I'm not sure if this is the FORUM that this question fits in, please MOVE it if it isn't.)

I just bought an ACER Aspire ONE that's supposedly pre-installed with Windows 7. When I boot it (it's connected to ethernet) it says something about DHCP and then after a few seconds I get: PXE-E53 No boot filename received.

I believe that it's trying to boot from the internet. It doesn't do anything afterwards, just tells me to insert a boot disk and press any key to continue. I've pressed any key and the process just repeats.

What could be causing this problem? Can we assume that this is not a new machine?

Acer Aspire One, model # AO???

It's a 722.

(Is that the model #?)

Oh, and Inspire is a typo, FIXING thatOn most machines you would change the boot order in the BIOS, although, if it can't find the 1st boot (network), it should look for others. It's possible the the required boot partitions have been deleted by the previous owner.

Your netbook: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3658

There is a Firmware PATCH (dated 5/15/12), listed under Patches, not BIOS. Doesn't say what it patches.

Probably best to contact Acer.
