Solve : Booting recovery console from floppy - would these commands work?? |
|
Answer» Hello. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.(From this page.) For background info, the reason for needing to run Recovery Console in this way, is because my system is infected with the ntos.exe virus, which my fully registered and up to date Zonealarm Security Suite did not recognise on entry and still doesn't identify on a full scan, and I am also in the unique and impoverished position of not having a functional CD-ROM drive in my laptop, and so am only ABLE to use a USB floppy drive!I dont know if you will be able to boot from the usb port/anyhting connected to it. newer computers have this option in bios but if your computer is more than a couple of years oldit PROB wont have it. the other opetion is to replace the cd driveA couple? I have computers 4 and 5 years old and they have "enable legacy usb support" in the bios. The BIOS on my machine definitely doesn't have the 'boot from external drive' option, but I certain it has the legacy usb driver support. Is that not standard within the discovery console drivers PACKAGE?Another option would be to Clik Here and have one of our Malware Removal Specialists have a looksee...Thanks for all the help, guys. I think I will do this first: Quote from: programming_pat on June 04, 2008, 01:25:54 AM the other opetion is to replace the cd drive Then, do that: Quote from: patio on June 04, 2008, 06:00:02 AM Another option would be to Clik Here and have one of our Malware Removal Specialists have a looksee... Thanks again! Quote from: MrPipps on June 04, 2008, 09:55:07 AM Thanks for all the help, guys. You may want to do this the other way around....check with one of the Malware Removal Specialists first. You may not have to buy a new CD drive. Quote from: Spoiler on June 04, 2008, 11:17:54 AM Quote from: MrPipps on June 04, 2008, 09:55:07 AMYou are absolutely right! Great thinking!
