Answer» Hello guys, I Did say that my CD DRIVE is not working or it would eb fixed by now. the problem is the cd drive dont work and everything i said before thats why i posted here. thanks anyway Any astute person will have realised that implied in patio's very good advice is the subtext "repair or replace your CD drive". If you go into BIOS, based on what you wrote, your hard disk is showing.. Do you know in fact that your CD is not working or are you assuming that from what you see in the BIOS? To check, I would turn off the system, insert the windows 7 install CD, and see if it boots off of it. If the CD is really not there, and you can not get it to come up by fiddling with the IDE or SATA options in BIOS, (not sure which kind of CD you have), then you have a hardware problem. The BIOS would not be impacted by the failed operating system issue. The bigger issue is that you probably need to totally reinstall Windows 7 at this point. If you can reformat and reinstall from scratch, that would be best, upgrades are iffy at best and more often than not, run into some sort of problem, plus you don't clean up all the garbage that's collected in the registry from your old OS when you just upgrade. If you need the files on the disk, an OPTION would be to pull the drive and install it as an additional disk in a friends PC using an external USB housing, copy the important files off, then reinstall it in your PC and start FRESH by formatting and doing a clean new windows 7 install. |
