Solve : Bootup problem with csrss.exe application.? |
|
Answer» When I start up Windows XP, I get theis message: Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.A safe way to do this is with Hijackthis.I ran HijackThis. It told me to save a log and show it to someone who knows what the heck they're doing. These lines were in the log: F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\system32\vnmdke\csrss.exe F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\system32\vnmdke\csrss.exe Anyone have a clue what that means?Without posting your complete logfile it would be guesswork at best... Even my crystal ball does not tell me which Application wrote that to your win.ini file. patio. 8-)Sorry about that, patio. Here's the complete log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 8:55:33 AM, on 7/11/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\dcfssvc.exe c:\program files\mcafee.com\agent\mcdetect.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcshield.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mctskshd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfService.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\SPAMKI~1\MSKSrvr.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\keyhook.exe C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\HP\hpcoretech\hpcmpmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpztsb10.exe C:\WINDOWS\BCMSMMSG.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\mcvsshld.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\oasclnt.exe c:\program files\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe c:\progra~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsescn.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfTray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\mps\mscifapp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\SPAMKI~1\MskAgent.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1152473833\ee\AOLSoftware.exe C:\Program Files\Sierra\Planner\Plnrnote.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\sistray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfAgent.exe C:\WINDOWS\webshots.scr c:\program files\common files\aol\1152473833\ee\aim6.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\browser\ycommon.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\browser\ybrwicon.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\browser\ybrowser.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff and Lisa\Desktop\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe R1 - However csrss is a valid XP process but that still doesn't explain what program or task is calling that process. Do me a favor browse to your win.ini file...it will be at the end of your Windows folder. Right clik it and choose "Open With" and select Notepad cut and paste a copy and post it here. patio. 8-) Do not edit it yet at this time.Re-run HJT, TICK both the entries and push the fixit button.Thanx Fed... I wasn't aware Hijack this made it that easy. Nice assist. patio. 8-)Thanks, Fed. That did it. I made sure I had the csrss.exe in my system32 folder, then let HiJack This do its thing. Problem solved. Whew! Thanks to you too, Patio.I'll take credit for spinnin my wheels... Fed got the job done ! patio. 8-) |
