Answer» Hi,
I am posting for a friend. He is having major trouble with his laptop. It has the infamous BSOD. He lives in another state, so I had him give me as much info over the telephone. I hope this is enough information.
The message is the usual saying that a problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer. The error code is the following:
STOP:0x000000f4 (0x0000000000000003,0xFFFFFA8003cd1040,0xFFFFFA8003cd10480xFFFF8001352da0)
It is a Dell Inspiron 1545
OS: Vista
He does have all original discs, but the DVD drive will not run either.
If you need more information, I will call him. Is this on a new Hardware(HD,RAM,etc) on the machine or just while using it? I would start by removing(POWER cord unplugged) the DVD drive, use 1 stick of RAM(alternately)and nickel battery upon booting. I will ASK him about the hardware and also give him instructions on removal of those THINGS. Will let you know. Thank you!Courtesy of MSDN;
Quote 0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION (Click to consult the online MSDN article.) One of the many processes or threads crucial to SYSTEM operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. As a result, the system can no longer function. Specific causes are many, and often best resolved by a careful history of the problem and the circumstances of the error message. One user, who experienced this on return from Standby mode on Win XP SP2, found the cause was that Windows was installed on a slave drive; compare KB
Wow. I'm not a huge fan of Dell (no offense to anyone who likes them and I know that they are the only ones who would do this). I had a Dell and it also gave me problems after 3 years or so.
Thank you. I am getting a lot of help from you guys.
