Answer» need SUGGESTIONS on how to do this. first of all can I use my old case and just gut it and buy new stuff?Yes.
Just keep in mind wheter it's AT or ATX. But that is only important when it comes to motherboard and PSU.You'd be surprised at the amount of stuff in your old PC that could be re-used. The monitor, keyboard, mouse, PSU, case, CD/Floppy Drives and USB/Firewire cards would be okay to use in a newer PC, although it may not exactly be cutting edge. Do triple check though!
The existing Hard Drive may also be used. Maybe not so obvious, but it is possible to put in two (or even more) hard drives into the one PC. You could easily fit the existing one alongside a higher capacity one, which may help when it comes to transferring data. Thanks for the tips on this subject. to get RIGHT to the point what its doing is when you fire it up. since it's a pentuim 3 with 233 Ghz bought in 96 and old I was getting rid of all the junk on it with the spyware remover and then tried to get rid of the virus's. It's a Pentium 2, 233MHz. That was the first of the Pentium II's. Therefore, you do have an ATX motherboard and an ATX power supply. Power supply probably not be large enough for a Pentium 4 or Athlon. A larger REPLACEMENT should fit right in. Thanks for all your suggestions today. will go HOME here after work and try it. will let you know tomorrow how it works and if not will give you better details of the tower.did the reboot to the scandisk but got the error message that I don't have the himem.sys file on here for whatever reason. I found that I need to rerun the windows 98 disk that I can't find and need help. thanks timYou'll have to find it. We can't do that for you.a GUY here at work is helping me with that plus a floppy to reset the whole computer. will let you all know how that goes in a day or 2. thanks
