I am confinced this model has a built-in MICROPHONE, this is for a FRIEND of mine so i don't have the actual laptop here yet.
But, she cannot even find it, LET alone use it.
So if it does have one, would it be in "device manager" and i would have to ENABLE the device, so she could use this.
At the moment, she is using a head-set, but she would also like to use the built in microphone.
The default microphone is the headset at the moment, which is the only one showing up when you right click the speaker icon, and click on recording.
Windows vista home basic...right click on the speaker in the bottom right corner, select Recording Devices, If it is not listed there, right click in a blank spot and select Show Disabled Devices, Right click on it if it shows up and click EnableThanks cruisin702
I'll try that later on, i take it this laptop has a built in microphone, i done a search about it, and it should have one, this friend of mine has been using the laptop for a year now thinking it doesen't have one.
Selecting "show disabled devices" if nothing shows up, does this mean it does not have a built in microphone.I believe it should have one, I cant say for sure if it does or doesn't.The Dell website mentions absolutely nothing about a built in MIKE on this model....it does mention a mic jack and speaker out jack...

I think you may be right patio, i had done a few searches, and found out simalar to what you mention, thats really why i posted the question.
Though there are references that it does have one..?
But anyway i'll find out later tonightBring a plug-in mike....

Yeah, your right No built in mike. i had thought all laptops had built-in mikes, (you learn something new everyday)
