Solve : Built my first computer?

Answer»

Yep just built my first barebone PC and having problems. I recently installed Windows XP Pro SP3. The motherboard I got is: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3827134&CatId=2323, pretty decent. So after I installed windows, I installed all the drivers on the disc that came with the motherboard. When I move an application window it like flashes. And some times when I scroll it goes slow and flashes, any reason why this is occurring? How can I solve this problem? Are you using the video card on your motherboard, or a a seperate video card?

If it is a seperate video card you may need to VISIT your manafacturers website and download the latest drivers.

Also could you post your computer specsSorry atm no I'm not using any computer video card, just the built in video of the PC. (That might be the problem possibly?), I also have a graphics card but its not installed, its a Radeon ATI but I don't know what version because I lost the CD so I wouldn't know how to figure that out.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket AM2 CPU
CD Drive: Hitachi 160GB Serial ATA w/NCQ 7200/8MB/SATA-3G
Motherboard: Biostar MCP6P-M2 GeForce 6100 Socket AM2
RAM: OCZ 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz The on-board video ccard may be too slow for the graphics that Windows XP requires.

Did you BUY your video card in a box, cause it should say what model it is. You could then go to the manafacturers website and download drivers.Yes it was in a box, but this was a while ago and I don't have the box around any more. (Just in its plastic wrap)Under Control Panel, look under system. Under the Advanced Tab, click on performance. Play around with the stuff in the visual effects tab, and see if you can prevent the chunky scrolling from happeningOkay thanks , basically worked, I made it not show content while dragging windows and its better, much smoother. It'll do until I get a graphics card.just remember to come back and let ius know how u wentOkay I fixed the issue

First I went to Control Panel => System => Advanced => HARDWARE, my video card wasn't found so it said reinstall video card, then a windows thing popped up like a wizard. It tolded me to insert my cd if I had one, and bam it installed my graphics thing , I thought the DRIVER was already installed but WOOT I got it installed now .cool
