My 8 month old Acer 6930 crashed. I never created any recovery discs, nor do I have a back-up.

I cant get to the desktop. I want to save my data. I was wondering if purchasing the $20.00 recovery CDs available for purchase from the Acer site fix my problem?

problem signature reals corrupt file & CHKDSK shows corruption...

My (64 bit) Acer laptop will not come up to a menu screen. I turn it on and it goes to Startup Repair screen. It searchs for problems, but then tells me it cant repair computer automatically. I know very little about computers, but after a little research I am sharing the information below in hopes that some kind person can provide insight. Stupidly I had not Backed Up in quite a while and I cant get to a recovery point. Nor was I originally supplied with a CD. While computer DUMB, I am pretty good at following tutorials.

Startup Repair has tried SEVERAL times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem
if you still have warranty for your 8 month old laptop and you use it as any normal average user does, maybe you have the laptop fixed for you. Sounds like a hard drive problem that recovery disk may not be able to fix since CHKDSK did report hard drive error.

Did you do the chkdsk/r function which does the chkdsk check as you already know BUT also attempts to fix problems if it can.
