I want to install the Xvid codec on my PC so I can watch my TV shows (not porn, I actually have morals) on my PC, but my PC's admin has windows XP set so that only he can install programs/etc. I was wondering if there was a way to bypass this so that I may install the codec.

I FULLY understand if it's against the rules or anything to ask this, so if it is, then nevermind.

[EDIT] Also, I have the DivX player INSTALLED on my computer, and I know it hasn't been locked down by the admin, but it just keeps saying "DivX PLayer has encoutered a problem and must shut down" whenever I try to start it up.You call it "my" PC, but it sounds like it is really your school's PC or your employer's PC, or even if not I expect there is a good reason why you are not allowed to interfere with settings, like for example you are eleven years old.

If there was a way to bypass admin settings, school computers wouldn't be safe. I think that you'd have to be a professional hacker to have a chance of doing this.

I'm saving up fro my own PC at the moment, but as for my dad being paranoid, there's more to it. If you knew the details, you'd side with me without question. D:

But this little feature is particularly annoying when I want to download stuff like a Java JDK since I'm a self-taught web developer/programmer.
