Solve : Bypass Admin's lock on Program Installation? |
|
Answer» I want to install the Xvid codec on my PC so I can watch my TV shows (not porn, I actually have morals) on my PC, but my PC's admin has windows XP set so that only he can install programs/etc. I was wondering if there was a way to bypass this so that I may install the codec. It's our family's PC, my dad's the admin, and I'm 15. My dad only locks program instalation because he's paranoid about spyware and the like. So can you help in this matter, or is it forbidden? Well, your dad sounds like a sensible guy, not "paranoid" at all. If many of the posters on here were sensible like your dad, they wouldn't have the problems that they do. Probably he will agree to let you do the installation if you ask him nicely. Maybe you should try to get a saturday job and/or beg for bits and peices and build yourself a PC out of unwanted components? Then you can be your own admin. I'm saving up fro my own PC at the moment, but as for my dad being paranoid, there's more to it. If you knew the details, you'd side with me without question. D: But this little feature is particularly annoying when I want to download stuff like a Java JDK since I'm a self-taught web developer/programmer.Quote from: Toasty64 on May 21, 2007, 04:05:17 AM I'm saving up fro my own PC at the moment, but as for my dad being paranoid, there's more to it. As in especially weird, not just normal "teenager's dad" type weird, either. So I do understand. I just wish I could earn more money than $10 a week. One more year and I can get a real job. Just one more year...I know it seems like forever. Still, to pass the time there are ALWAYS girls... Invest 10.00 a week for 10 WEEKS and you'll be flying high, until you can do better.TryHere You can pick up and old keyboard ,mouse ,and monitor almost anywhere. I must add that is better than my computer and all is fine here. |
