Answer» I have Windows Vista. I went to open and when opened could not find start button or desk top icons. I am able to DRAG some of the icons so I can see them. The screen seems to be way to the right. Not sure what to do. When you press the Windows key on the keyboard are you able to see the start menu and/or start button?If you're using an LCD monitor and the monitor has a button on it labelled "Auto", press it.when I press window key I can not see start menu/start button and I also pushed auto on LCD still the same. I did do system restore but it comes up with an error message which says "an unspecified error occurred during system restore."Okay, well right-click on the desktop and choose properties. Go to the Settings tab (is that right in Vista? don't use it myself) and drag the screen resolution bar to the left a notch. Click apply. Repeat until the situation improves.Slighly, in Windows Vista it is called PERSONALISE (peronalize depending on American or UK) and go to display settings and adjust the SCREENS resolution, that seems to be your problem, if not, come back to us, and we SHALL run more diagnostics, if you can try running dxdiag.Try rebooting the computer into Safe Mode, it should reset your taskbar settings (assuming some third party program isn't taking control of it) and once you reboot back into normal mode should be fine.Could it be that the desktop area is set larger than the monitor can display?
