|
Answer» My PIII has 4 slots with 2-256MB & 1-128MM, 640MB total. I was attempting to get to 1GB, but all of the newly acquired 256's, SHOWED as 128MB. Therefore, my success rate is 50%.I meant that it works on approx. 80% of MBoards/machines...a Pentium 3 machine that can only hold 128MB per slot? now that's weird. a Pentium 3 machine that can only hold 128MB per slot? now that's weird. Blame the chipset. The limitation is the chip set on the motherboard itself. it SIMPLY can not address more then 128MB of ram per slot. Quote the Gateway Performance 500 Computer takes the 100MHz SDRAM DIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 128 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Gateway Performance 500 Computer to up to a maximum of 384 MB Memory, the system has 3 sockets to install Memory, already with 128 MB (removable) STANDARD Memory installed. http://www.memorystock.com/memory/GatewayPerformance500.html well i guess ill have to rely on getting updated DRIVERS from intel.
