Solve : Can't add progrmas to start menu?

Answer»

Although my right-click works for everything else, it refuses to allow me to add anything to the start MENU
It's not a mouse problem - I must have some setting set wrong.  Any ideas which one?

Windows XP Pro
Microsoft optical mouse

SANDY Could you give us some more detail of what you are TRYING to do exactly?

Try right clicking the start menu, and click "Explore"
Is that what you needed? Quote from: Zylstra on July 25, 2007, 12:17:10 AM

Could you give us some more detail of what you are trying to do exactly?
And how are you doing it?Well, lets say I wanted to add the applicaton called calculator to the start menu. Normally I would start/allprograms/accessories , scroll down to highlight calculator, right-click on and and choose pin to start menu.  But my computer does nothing when I right-click calculator.

-Does that describe what I am trying to do?

SandySo you MEAN you used to be able to right click calculator in that specific place?I have been using the right-click option of adding programs and much used applications to my start menu for years. It helps keep my desktop relatively clean and makes it easy to start frequently used applications such as calculator and notepad.  But also, when I load a program I choose to not put an icon on the desktop. I just find it in program files and  right-click it into my start menu.  But after I scrubbed and REINSTALLED Windows on this computer it no longer responds to right-clicking on anything in program files.  I want to restore this function but don't know how.

Sandyusually windows xp lets you right click on start memnu items and copy cut and paste them. Earlier versions of windows did not allow you to do this and you had to go through the explore program. Try using the explore program as described here:

Try right clicking the start menu, and click "Explore"
