Answer» Hi All
Hope you can help me!
I've an old windows XP Compaq tablet t1000 running on Transmeta Crusoe and it wouldn't boot up. I keeping an error message that it can't start \windows\system\config\system and press R to RETRY, which just provides the same error message.
I've attached my external CD ROM player using USB and the system will automatically try to boot up from my recovery disks 1 (I've full set of windows xp tablet discs). I get an error message saying it can't find the ATAPI IDE CD ROM driver and disables the USB drive.
I can access the c:\> on pressing esc button. But I don't know what to do. I've TRIED searching the internet (hence I am here) for help and find I need to edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys files but edit COMMAND is not recognised. (My knowledge of ms dos command is very limited, mostly forgotten and gain from using P2 computers.)
What can I do to reboot my tablet?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Boot to the XP CD and select R (Recovery Console)
At the command prompt type:
ren c:\windows\system32\config\system system.old copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config
RebootThanks Allen. However, I can't get the system to acknowledge my external CD ROM player - error message "Failed to load USB Storage device". Hence, I can't to the recovery console.
